Abstract

Indonesia is a nation with a variety of characters in each region. Each region has wisdom values that emerge as norms and guidelines for behavior. These values as local wisdom. That is a picture of an area that is characterized by national identity. Denial of these values will cause deviation. This deviation can be in the form of unpleasant acts, violence, and other crimes. One seed of crime that appears can have a very wide impact. The climax is causing a stigma from outside society. Talking about the stigma itself, it is interesting to study the phenomenon of study in Jabung District, East Lampung Regency. This area is stigmatized as a begal village because in the past there were a handful of unscrupulous people who carried out this kind of action in this area, so that all of them concerning Jabung District seemed identical to the begal. The impacts that the authors found from this stigma include: discrimination, investment difficulties, and seeds of easy-to-develop crime. When examined, begal itself is not a teaching of Lampung's local wisdom known as Piil Pesenggiri and of course gives stigma easily rather than being a national character. From this, it can be seen how the stigma begal arises because the erosion of the value of existing local wisdom. Therefore, strengthening and internalizing the values of Piil Pesenggiri's local wisdom to the next generation of the nation becomes important to fight the existing stigma. One way is by instilling four pillars of Pesenggiri Piil for elementary students through practice-based education and cultural, social, and compassionate understanding of the motherland.
