Personal reference was the most used in the speech which had 181 items, while the least was ellipsis and substitution which only contained 1 item each. There were 2 grammatical cohesion and 1 lexical as dominant types found in the speech, they are personal reference “we” which contained 57 items, additive conjunction “and” which contained 46 items, and repetition which contained 27 items used in Donald Trump’s Speech. Trump used a pattern by using the word “we” more than “I” to create an image where he belongs to his people, while the pattern used by Trump by using “and” is as a connector of the additional information Trump given, and the use of some repititions by Trump refered to emphasize on the points discussed.
